In its first edition, the Galeria Mundo project presents 100 works by 12 contemporary photographers from 11 Brazilian states, whose central theme is affection in its various nuances. Starting this Friday (31), three outdoor exhibitions will be held in squares in Rio de Janeiro, Teresópolis and Cabo Frio. Each municipality will exhibit around 30 images. Admission is free, and ranking is free. Sponsored by the state government, the project was contemplated by the Retomada Cultural RJ 2 Notice, by the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy of Rio de Janeiro. The first exhibition opened today at Praça Saens Peña, in Tijuca, in the north of the capital. The second begins on April 6th, at Praça da Cidadania, in Cabo Frio, Região dos Lagos, and the third, on the 14th, at Praça Baltazar da Silveira and Casa da Memória Arthur Dalmasso, in Teresópolis, in the mountainous region of the state. From Rio. The project runs until April 23. “The idea is to let the photos loose, outdoors”, filmmaker and photographer Raquel Gandra, curator of the exhibition, told Agência Brasil. The idea is to let the photos loose, outdoors, and bring the public closer to art, says photographer Raquel Gandra – Press Release/Mundo Gallery According to Raquel, squares were chosen to install the exhibitions to democratize access to culture. “I like to think of photography outside the space of the gallery and the museum because I feel that. when art is inside these spaces, it becomes very isolated and distant from people. My wish is that, being in a square, people can get in touch [com a arte] without even waiting. They pass by, look and connect.” In Saens Peña Square, many passers-by have stopped to comment on the photos. “Many people even wanted to buy the photos. They connect immediately. If, on the contrary, it is in a gallery or a museum, the person has to organize himself to go there. There are many barriers”. In public space, it’s different, says Raquel. “People come into contact directly, in the middle of their daily lives, and bump into photography and art,” said the curator. For her, public space should be occupied by cultural activities. Workshops In each location included in the Galeria Mundo project, there will be a free workshop, open to the public. Entries can be made on the Interlúdica website. This Saturday (1st), Teatro Cacilda Becker, in Catete, will host, from 10 am to 1 pm, the CorpoGrafia Afetiva workshop, facilitated by body educator and dancer Marilia Felippe. In this activity, through rhythm, voice and different musical dynamics, vital energy is generated and released, opening and expanding internal spaces and making it easier for energy to flow and manifest itself in the world and in meetings, says the specialist. To participate in the workshop, which can receive up to 25 young people or adults, no prerequisites are required. On April 12, at the Grupo de Apoio ao Idoso space, in Cabo Frio, participants will develop, over the course of an afternoon, a look of affection towards each other and the world, through photography and embroidery. The To See With The Heart workshop starts at 2 pm and brings together cell phone photographs, which will later be printed. At 4 pm, experiences will be woven in paper embroidery. The event, facilitated by photographer Thammy Carvalho and integrative therapist Mondriam Nascimento Mageswki, ends with a large exhibition of works, starting at 6 pm. In Teresópolis, on April 15th, the public will be invited to expand and deepen the field of affection through exercises, games and meditation based on the Life-Art process and on practices of self-knowledge, conscious communication and consent. The workshops will be held at Casa de Cultura Adolpho Bloch, between 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Meeting The show brings together works by Marília Oliveira (Ceará), Isabella Lanave (Curitiba), Ingrid Barros (Maranhão), Dayse Euzébio (Paraíba), Aziza Xavier (Minas Gerais), Marcela Bonfim (Rondônia), Raquel Bacelar (Bahia), Cristal Luz (Alagoas), Raquel Gandra (Rio de Janeiro), Daniela Paoliello (Minas Gerais), Ilana Bar (São Paulo) and Ana Mendes (Pará/Amazon Region). Each artist presents a different trajectory, language and experience in the field of photography, with affection always as the central axis. “Mundo Gallery is a meeting proposal, an invitation to get in touch with our sensibilities, to become more curious, generous and interested in the way the other lives, feels and thinks”, emphasizes Raquel Gandra. Each city will also have guided tours, mediated by local young people who previously participated in specific training dedicated to the area of education. This is yet another action proposed by the Galeria Mundo project, with the aim of activating the connection and accessibility of the public with the works. The exact dates of the visits will be published on the creator’s social networks (@interludica) Conversations In addition to the workshops and guided tours, the Galeria Mundo program offers the opportunity for a more direct contact between the public and the guest photographers, through three meetings online in real time and live, at 7 pm. Meetings will take place on the Youtube platform (@interludica), with translation into pounds. All tables will be mediated by curator Raquel Gandra. The first table, scheduled for this Saturday, will feature Marcela Bonfim, Daniela Paoliello, Dayse Euzébio and Ana Mendes. Table 2 will be on the 10th, with Raquel Bacelar, Ingrid Barros, Duda Aziza Xavier and Cristal Luz. The third table, scheduled for the 18th, will be with Marilia Oliveira, Isabella Lanave and Ilana Bar.
