Companies and individuals that participate in anti-democratic acts will be prohibited from contracting with the Federal Public Administration. This is the position of the Advocacy-General of the Union (AGU), in an opinion that will be published tomorrow (12) in the Official Gazette of the Union. The federal government will follow the position set out in the opinion. In the document, which was approved by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the AGU states that the State can prevent those who participate or promote undemocratic acts from competing in bids and contracting with government agencies. The measure will be mandatory and must be followed by all sectors of the Federal Executive Branch. The AGU further argues that offensive acts carry a high level of condemnation under Brazilian law and are incompatible with constitutional principles. The rule that will be published provides that the bodies will have a period of five years to open proceedings against companies and people involved in the acts, from the knowledge of the fact. After the end of the accountability process, hiring may be vetoed for a period of three to six years. January 8 After the acts of January 8, the AGU also filed a lawsuit to ask that the financiers of the attempted coup be sentenced to pay R$ 100 million for collective moral damages. According to the agency, the action involves 54 individuals, three companies, an association and a union. These are also prosecuted for material damage estimated at R$ 20 million, for financing the charter of buses to transport the investigated to Brasília.
