The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araújo, denounced Senator Sergio Moro (União-PR) to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) today (17) for the crime of slander. In a video released on social networks last weekend, Moro appears in a conversation with unidentified people. During the dialogue, the parliamentarian stated: “No, this is bail, institute… to buy a habeas corpus from Gilmar Mendes”. For Lindôra Araújo, Moro accused the minister of “negotiating the purchase and sale of a court decision for the granting of habeas corpus”. “By falsely attributing the practice of the crime of passive corruption to the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Gilmar Mendes, the accused acted with the clear intention of tarnishing the image and objective honor of the offended party, trying to discredit his performance as a magistrate of the highest Court of the country,” wrote the prosecutor. The complaint was motivated by a representation made by Mendes’ lawyer after the video with Moro’s speech circulated in the press and on social networks. Agência Brasil contacted Moro’s advisory and is waiting for a response.
