First lady Janja Lula da Silva said it was “extremely important” that society choose, for the guardianship councils, people who, in fact, are committed to the rights of children and adolescents. This statement was made this Wednesday (19), during the 313th Ordinary Assembly of the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Conanda). “This year we have the election of the tutelary councils, which is very important. We cannot fail to have this on our horizon. The ideal is for us to have a council that really represents the issue of the rights of children and adolescents”, said the first lady. Guardianship councils are elected by society to ensure the rights of children and adolescents. Its statute provides for the existence of at least one council in each municipality. In the case of the Federal District, it provides for one body per administrative region. Among the attributions is to monitor children and adolescents at risk, defining protective measures for each case. Shortly before, the first lady reiterated her criticism of the way the previous government had inserted police officers in schools and said that, among the guidelines to be discussed by the council, is to encourage Brazilians to resume their essence of “solidarity and love”. , after the recent stimulus to a “culture of hate”. “Yesterday we had a very important meeting with all the governors and all the federal government institutions to address the issue of violence in schools. This is a challenge that is part not only of the federal government, but of institutions and society as a whole. We also have an obligation to discuss this issue here in this council.
