Today’s morning (21st) was the coldest of the year in the city of São Paulo. According to the City Hall’s Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE), the average minimum temperature recorded was 11.3ºC, but the thermal sensation reached 8.3ºC. The lowest temperature recorded in the city this morning was 5.6ºC, in Engenheiro Marsilac, in the extreme south of the capital. Generally, the average minimum temperature for the month of April is usually 17.3ºC. The maximum temperature for the month is usually 26.3ºC. The previous record of cold in the year had been observed yesterday, around 23:50, when the thermometers marked 13.2ºC. According to the CGE, this was the second coldest morning recorded for the month of April in São Paulo since 2004, when the agency started measuring it. It only lost to the dawn of April 27, 2004, when the thermometers reached 9.9ºC. Colder The CGE informed that there is no forecast of rain for the capital of São Paulo until next Tuesday (25), but the feeling of cold should persist in the coming days, mainly at night and in the early morning. For today, the predicted maximum should not exceed the mark of 22ºC. Because of the cold, the Municipal Civil Defense declared a state of alert for low temperatures in the city. A report made by Agência Brasil yesterday showed that the homeless population of São Paulo will have to face these cold days with fewer blankets and warm clothing than at other times, since the number of donations has decreased. According to the coordinator of the Vegan Solidarity project, Vivi Torrico, the news about the increase in violence in the central region of the city has driven away donations. “People are a little angry about this whole situation that the center of the city is experiencing, the drags and robberies, and they end up forgetting a little about this compassionate side,” she said.
