Southern Bahia is again hit by heavy rains

Minister Waldez Góes, for Integration and Regional Development, signs, this Monday (24), a work order for the construction of housing in Itabuna, in the south of Bahia. More than R$ 82 million will be invested in the works, which include the construction of two linear parks on the banks of the Cachoeira River. Cities in the south and extreme south of Bahia have been suffering from storms and flooding. A year ago, more than 20 people died and more than 30,000 were left homeless. This year, the problems are repeated and concern the local population. On the Tiradentes holiday, the rain hit the southern coast of the state again. There were also landslides and flooding in the cities of Ilhéus and Santa Cruz de Cabrália, which declared a state of emergency. According to the Bahia Infrastructure Secretariat, roads and bridges were banned. The weather forecast continues to indicate heavy rain in the coming days in the region. In case of risk of landslides and flooding, the local Civil Defense can be contacted by calling (73) 99922-4391. For emergencies, it is necessary to call Samu on 192, and for firefighters on 193. Today, before the document is signed, members of the federal and Bahia governments will fly over areas affected by the rains.
