The number of cases of homicides, rapes, robberies, thefts, and bodily harm increased in March in the state of São Paulo. The data, released today (25), are from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of the State of São Paulo. The number of intentional homicide cases rose from 241, in March 2022, to 246, last month, an increase of 2%. Homicide attempts also increased, using the same comparison, from 308 to 346 (+12.3%). There was also an increase in rapes, from 1,214 to 1,383 (+13.9%); in robberies, from 21,278 to 21,606 (+1.5%); and intentional bodily injury, from 11,757 to 13,482 (+14.6%). There was also an increase, in the comparison between March 2022 and March 2022, in the number of vehicle thefts, which rose from 8,296 to 8,848 (+6.6%). Robbery cases remained stable at 13 in the month. “The Secretariat of Public Security understands that there is much to be done. Since the beginning of the year, policing in the state has been reinforced with Operation Impact, placing over 17,000 police officers on the streets. In these three months, 47,792 people were arrested, representing an increase of 10.6% in the same period last year”, said the folder, in a note.
