This Wednesday (26), the Federal Police launched Operation Rota Caipira to investigate a group suspected of international cocaine trafficking. The drug, coming from Bolivia, Peru and Colombia, was destined for states in the North and Northeast. By determination of the 1st Federal Court of Araguaína (TO), 195 judicial measures – 28 of which are preventive arrest warrants, 95 of search and seizure – are being carried out in 14 federative units by about 400 federal police officers, servants of the National Petroleum Agency ( ANP) and the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), and by military police from three states (Tocantins, Maranhão and Piauí). The orders include the seizure of 16 aircraft, the hijacking of three rural properties and the freezing of values, which could reach R$ 300 million. In a note, the PF informs that investigations began in November 2020 with the seizure, by the Military Police, of 815 kilos of cocaine in Tucumã, Pará. According to investigative work, the criminal organization acquired cocaine from suppliers located in Bolivia and Peru and transported it through a complex aerial structure to strategic points located in the states of Pará, Tocantins and Maranhão. According to a note from the PF, the likely destination would be the capitals of these states. “However, the investigation does not rule out that the drug was also destined for countries in Europe”, informed the PF. According to the Federal Police, if convicted, the suspects could answer for crimes such as association, financing and international drug trafficking, international criminal organization, money laundering practiced by a criminal organization.
