The President of the National Congress, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), read today (26), during a session of the National Congress, the request for the opening of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to investigate the invasions and depredations of public buildings that occurred on January 8, the so-called CPMI of Coup Acts. On that occasion, the headquarters of the National Congress, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Planalto Palace were invaded by vandals supporting former President Bolsonaro, unhappy with the result of the presidential election. The document now needs to be published in the Official Gazette (DOU). “The application requires the creation of a Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry with the purpose of investigating the acts of action and omission that occurred on the last 8th of January at the headquarters of the three powers of the Republic in Brasília”, says an excerpt from the application. The collegiate will be formed by 16 deputies and 16 senators. Now, the leaders must indicate the members of the commission according to the proportionality contained in the document, which will be sent to the leaders of the two legislative houses. The initial duration of the CPMI work will be six months. Government Last Thursday (20), the Minister of the Institutional Relations Secretariat, Alexandre Padilha, said that the government will support the work of the commission. The government’s decision took place after the release, by the press, of images showing General Gonçalves Dias, then chief minister of the Institutional Security Office (GSI) of the Presidency of the Republic, and other officials of the portfolio, inside the Planalto Palace , interacting with the vandals, on the day of the invasion. General Dias resigned as a result, which was accepted by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
