Registration for the free Practices and Techniques for the Performing Arts program (PTAC), by the Brazilian Theater Institute (ITB), for the cities of São Luís (MA), Paracatu (MG), Ribeirão Preto (SP) and Florianópolis (SC ) were opened this Monday (1st). The program enables, through free courses, training in the areas of sound, light, stage and cultural production technicians. The choice of formations was made after mapping groups, institutions and artists, with the aim of valuing local culture. Entries can be made online until the next 18th. The project started in 2022 reaching three cities: Ipatinga (MG), São Paulo (SP) and Petrolina (PE) and now serves a total of seven municipalities: Paracatu (MG), Taubaté (SP), Ribeirão Preto (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), São Paulo (SP), São Luis (MA) and Florianópolis (SC). Registration for the other squares will be held in June. The classes for the first four cities will take place in June and, in July, for the other three, informed this Thursday (27) the pedagogical coordinator of the ITB, André Prado. “This study training lasts approximately three months, with an additional month, which is a supervised internship period”. The complete cycle, from the selection of candidates to the completion of the course, with delivery of the certificate, lasts six months. There, the student is already able to obtain the professional registration. “Those who obtain 80% of success in the course and 80% of attendance are qualified”, said Prado. Criteria Can participate in the process candidates who have completed high school and are over 18 years old. “Exactly because of this issue of professional registration, they need to be of legal age and have completed high school”. The project especially wants to attract low-income young people who have finished high school and want to enter the market with technical training. It also serves artists and technicians who wish to recycle or have a new training and have contact with reference teachers, in addition to professional registration. According to the pedagogical coordinator, 40% of the students left the course with a job, some of whom had a formal contract with production companies, theaters and companies. The PACT emerged from a perception by the ITB about the lack of qualified training in the technical and production areas in the performing arts, in contrast to a labor market with a good capacity to absorb labor. “We realize that the market is lacking. The issue of the pandemic caused many professionals to migrate by profession. And there is a huge lack of training,” said Prado. For this year, the ITB expects to have at least twice as many applicants for vacancies, which reach 80 for each of the seven cities. “We are expecting at least 160 applicants per city”. In 2022, 240 vacancies were offered, with about a thousand applications. André Prado stressed that the selection process is not about aptitude, but about understanding whether the student intends to complete the course or whether he applied just out of curiosity. Hybrid classes Classes for the first four cities will be given in a hybrid way (face-to-face and online), between June 6 and August 18, 2023, with practices in equipment from partner institutions in each city. Some classes will be simultaneous between all cities to promote an exchange of learning and experience among students. For the second city block, classes will run from July 11th to October 20th.
