Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined, this Tuesday (2), that presidents of companies that operated social networks give testimony, within five days, to the Federal Police (PF). de Moraes was issued after the disclosure of complaints about the alleged favoring of results contrary to the so-called Fake News Bill (PL 2.630/20), under discussion in the National Congress. The platforms must remove from the air all advertisements that treat the project as a PL of Censorship. According to the decision, the presidents of Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Sportfy and Brasil Paralelo must testify. According to Moraes, they will have to clarify to the PF the reasons for having authorized the use of propaganda mechanisms against the project. In the decision, the minister understood that the conduct could configure “abuse of economic power” and “illicit contribution with misinformation”.
