The Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF) declared, this Tuesday (2), that it is not necessary to transfer former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres from the corporation’s aviation battalion to a penitentiary hospital. The letter was sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) at the request of Justice Alexandre de Moraes. According to the PMDF, Torres has been adequately cared for at the battalion facilities, where he has been held since January. However, the PM warned that the case requires frequent monitoring. “The facilities of the Operational Aviation Battalion (Bavop) seem adequate for the current state of mental health of the person being held. at night, and multiple objects from the rooms it is in can be used for that purpose,” the corporation said. Last week, the ex-minister’s defense attributed “lapses of memory” to the delivery of invalid cell phone and cloud storage passwords for the investigation by the Federal Police (PF) that investigates the coup acts of January 8. According to the defense, due to the seriousness of the psychic four and the medications that the former minister is taking, it is possible that “the passwords were mistakenly provided, given his degree of cognitive impairment”. In view of the allegations, Moraes determined that the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of the Federal District should inform whether it recommends transferring Torres to a penitentiary hospital and whether the PM battalion is able to keep him there. Freedom At the end of the afternoon, Anderson Torres’ defense made a new request for freedom to the Supreme Court. In the appeal, the lawyers attached the report produced by a psychiatrist from the Federal District public network in favor of house arrest. According to the doctor, Torres is experiencing bouts of anxiety, anguish, feeling short of breath, anguish, deep sadness, with intense and uninterrupted crying. “There was, therefore, a need for a new medication readjustment, since, within this context, the risk of attempted self-extermination has been increasing. Still with the aim of containing the progression of these crises and preventing suicide, I recommend home hospitalization”, says the report. In the petition, the defense also reaffirmed that Anderson Torres was not conniving with the invasion of public buildings on January 8 and that he should be released for not posing a risk to the investigations. “Anderson Torres no longer occupies a position in the administration of the Federal District, has been cooperating with the investigations, does not pose a risk of flight, has a fixed residence, has a legal professional occupation, has a good record, does not represent a danger to society, while he has no conditions to interfere in the course of investigations still in progress, which, by the way, are already moving towards their conclusion”, concluded the defense.
