The Civil Police reported that it has a new line of investigation into the case of a man who died after being beaten by several people in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo. The victim was Osil Vicente Guedes, 49 years old, who was lynched on May 3 and died last Sunday (7). Initially, the suspicion was that Osil would have been attacked after the broadcast of false news that said he would have stolen a motorcycle. The motorcycle had actually been lent to him by a friend. But now, after having access to an audio sent by the victim to his relatives, the police begin to investigate whether the crime was ordered. During a press interview, Police Chief Rubens Eduardo Barazal Teixeira, of the Santos Sectional Police, said that the possibility of lynching had already been ruled out by the police: right from the start, a motivation that was deconstructed, that is, that he was the author of the theft of a motorcycle and that he would have been beaten because he was the thief, which does not correspond to the truth. This hypothesis was deconstructed after hearing the motorcycle owner and with the emergence of other facts that emerged during the course of the investigations.” The new hypothesis, said the delegate, is that Osil’s death could be related to problems arising from his relationship with an ex-girlfriend. This hypothesis arose after an audio recording was shown in which Osil reports to family members that his ex-girlfriend was responsible for a beating he suffered earlier. The police seized the ex-girlfriend’s cell phones and she may be called to give a new statement about the case. According to the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo, all those involved and witnesses have already been heard and the case is still under investigation. Three suspects of the crime have already been identified and one of them had the arrest decreed by Justice.
