The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) of the State of São Paulo reported that the police are investigating the murder of young Micaelly dos Santos Lara, 19 years old, by her ex-boyfriend, in the municipality of Hortolândia (SP). According to the SSP, the case was registered as a feminicide followed by suicide. On Monday night (17), the young woman and her ex-boyfriend were found dead, with gunshot marks, inside a parked vehicle in Jardim Santa Clara, in the interior of São Paulo. “The case cited is being investigated through an inquiry at the Hortolândia Police Station. Police officers were called to investigate a parked vehicle. Inside were a 30-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both with gunshot marks. Samu confirmed the death on the spot”, says a note from the SSP. Statistics The amount of crimes committed against women in the state of São Paulo had a strong increase in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year. Among the indices that draw attention are femicide, which increased by 24%; the threat, which grew 70.8%; and intentional bodily injury, with an increase of 13.8%. The data is from the Secretariat of Public Security. The number of registered femicides jumped from 50 in the first quarter of 2022 to 62 in the first three months of this year. In the same comparison, cases of threat increased from 14,945 to 25,531, and intentional bodily harm from 13,102 to 14,923. Other crimes involving women as victims also increased: rape (increase of 5.4%); intentional bodily injury (increase of 13.8%); slander, defamation and injury (505%); and home invasion (403%).
