Minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), reiterated today (23) the suspension of criminal actions against lawyer Rodrigo Tacla Duran, defendant for money laundering in Operation Lava Jato. In the decision, the minister reiterates that the 13th Federal Court in Curitiba must follow the decision handed down by former minister Ricardo Lewandowski, who suspended five processes based on evidence that were annulled by the Court. Among the actions is the lawsuit against Duran. After Lewandowski’s retirement, Toffoli is dispatching the case. “I verify that, apparently, the determination of suspension of the facts was not respected, even during the period in which the minister Ricardo Lewandowski was officiating as rapporteur of the fact”, he wrote. Toffoli also determined that copies of all proceedings that are on the court and are related to the case be sent to the STF. Removal Federal judge Gabriela Hardt today took over the conduct of the processes of the 13th Court, after the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF4) removed judge Eduardo Appio. At the height of Lava Jato, Gabriela acted as a substitute for former judge Sérgio Moro in conducting the investigation. In another process that is in the STF, Duran raised suspicions about Moro’s performance in the conduct of the process in which he is accused of operating accounts abroad created by the extinct Odebrecht for the payment of bribes. In the testimony given to Eduardo Appio, in March of this year, he said that he was the target of persecution for not accepting being extorted. After the episode, Moro said he is not afraid of any investigation and recalled that Duran was arrested by Lava Jato.
