Vinicius Júnior received several manifestations of support, this Wednesday (24), during Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano for the 36th round of the Spanish Championship at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. After the Spanish Federation annulled, last Tuesday (23), the red card he received in the game against Valencia (when the Brazilian was the victim of racist attacks), the striker could even enter the field, but was not included in the match due to cause of knee pain. One of the outpourings of support came from the Real Madrid squad. The players of the Merengue team, starters and substitutes, entered the field with the number 20 shirt of Vinicius Júnior. A large banner with the words “We are all Vinicius, enough is enough” was displayed by the Real fans, who, in the 20th minute of the first half, gave a round of applause, at which point the match was interrupted for the tribute to the Brazilian. The Brazilian national team striker, who followed the match from the stands at the Santiago Bernabéu, published a message on his profile on a social network after the match, thanking him for the support: “I love you. Thank you, thank you, thank you”. 🤝 @vinijr is coming to the party with the president on stage at the Santiago Bernabéu.#RealMadridRayo pic.twitter.com/fWosgVbzBD — Real Madrid CF (@realmadrid) May 24, 2023 Racist attacks at Mestalla Vinicius Júnior was the victim of yet another action racist in a Spanish stadium last Sunday afternoon. During Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat by Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium, home of the opponents, Vini heard racist insults and shouts of “monkey” coming from the stands. The game was stopped for about eight minutes and, later, the player was expelled for being involved in confusion. The bid that gave rise to the episode happened at 29 of the second stage. Playing in a hostile environment, Vinicius Júnior tried to play from the left when a second ball, which had been thrown on the lawn moments before, was kicked by Eray Cömert, an athlete from Valencia, on purpose to interrupt the play. At that moment Vini went to part of the Valencian crowd that was located behind the local team’s goal and pointed at fans who insulted him by calling him a monkey. Referee De Burgos Bengoetxea stopped the match and the sound system warned that the confrontation would only resume if the offenses stopped. Vini signaled that he was fine to return, and the game continued after about an eight-minute break, with the police attending the scene of the offenses. In the match’s extra time, Vini got involved in a mess with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and, after being restrained by opponent Hugo Duro with a tie, hit the Valencia athlete’s face when trying to get rid of it. In the end, only the Brazilian was punished, being expelled.
