The More Doctors Program registered 34,070 professionals enrolled for the 5,970 vacancies offered in the current cycle. The balance sheet was released this Thursday (1st) by the Ministry of Health. The total number of applicants, according to the folder, is the highest ever achieved since the creation of the program in 2013. “We had 38,000 initial enrollments, 34,070 of which were completed, with complete and enabled documentation so that, as of today, these professionals start choosing two options from Brazilian municipalities to carry out their registration”, highlighted the secretary of Primary Health Care, Nésio Fernandes. The deadline for registration, with priority for Brazilian professionals trained in the country, ended this Wednesday (31). Brazilians trained abroad or foreigners could also register, who will continue to work with Ministry of Health registration in vacancies not occupied by doctors registered in the country. Of the 34,070 registered, 30,175 are Brazilian professionals. The clipping released by the ministry also shows that 19,652 are doctors with professional registration; 10,523 are Brazilians registered abroad; and 3,895 are foreigners registered abroad. “We have a result and an outcome of the program where 65% of Brazilians enrolled are professionals with medical records in Brazil”, said Fernandes. “We understand that the improvements adopted made the matter even more mature and will allow new editions and new public notices to consolidate the Mais Médicos program as a State strategy”, stated Fernandes. Schedule The announcement with 5,970 vacancies distributed in 1,994 municipalities was released on the last 22nd. The next stage is the publication of validated registrations, which should happen this Thursday. The expectation is that, as of June 16, the confirmation of vacancies and places chosen by the candidates will be announced. The forecast, according to the folder, is that the professionals start working in the municipalities at the end of June. In the allocation of professionals, criteria related to title, training and previous experience in the project will be considered. For the tiebreaker, priority will be given to candidates who live closer to the place of work, have graduated longer and are older. Training grant The value provided for in the training grant notice is R$ 12,300 per month, for a period of 48 months, extendable for an equal period. All participants will be able to receive incentives for remaining in the program, and those who are allocated in regions of extreme poverty and vulnerability, according to the bid offer, receive a higher percentage. Balance According to the ministry, currently more than 8 thousand doctors work in the program. The most recent call for bids should restore idle vacancies from the last four years, in addition to a thousand new vacancies for the Legal Amazon. About 45% of vacancies are in regions of social vulnerability and historically with difficulty in providing professionals. In 2023, 117 doctors were summoned to work in indigenous health districts, including in the Yanomami territory, in a situation of health emergency. “The expectation of the federal government is to reach the end of the year with 28 thousand professionals from Mais Médicos serving all over the country, mainly in areas of extreme poverty. With this, more than 96 million Brazilians will have the guarantee of medical care in primary care, the gateway to the SUS”, informs the ministry.
