More recently, the attacks directed at Brazilian striker Vinicius Júnior, from Real Madrid, also gained repercussions. The last one took place on May 21, in the defeat of his team to Valencia, in the Spanish Championship, organized by LaLiga. In all, there were ten attacks against Vini Jr. Since 2021. In one of them, fans of Atlético de Madrid hung, hanged, on a bridge in the Spanish capital, an inflatable black doll with the Real Madrid shirt 20, used by the Brazilian striker. This week, the Spanish Anti-Violence Commission – a collegiate body of Spain’s Superior Sports Council – proposed the imposition of a fine of 60,000 euros (the equivalent of R$ 316,800) and a two-year ban in sporting environments on the four suspected of hanging the toy. The fans were identified as members of an organized crowd and are still under investigation by the Court of Justice for a hate crime. The commission, which handles cases of racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sports activities, also suggested increasing the amount of the fine – from 4,000 euros to 5,000 euros (R$ 26,000 reais) – to the three individuals identified for uttering racist insults in the game against Valencia. The seven fans were arrested last month, but were released afterwards.
