The free online course that prepares for the Exam for Certification of Youths and Adults (Encceja) accounts, so far, 3 thousand students from all over the country already registered or not for the tests. As young people and adults decide to participate in the classes, new groups will be opened, João Alegria, secretary general of the Roberto Marinho Foundation (FRM), creator of the course, informed Agência Brasil this Wednesday (14). The Encceja will be held on the 27th of August for those who are out of school or have not had the opportunity to complete their basic schooling. Through the preparatory course – the Seja – participants can obtain a certificate of completion of primary or secondary education. According to João Alegria, thousands of Brazilians take the course every year, especially those excluded from school or those who have difficulty accessing a regular educational experience. “Our goal is to serve and help this audience. The course prepares people who are on this journey for free, so that they can do well in the exam and obtain their certificate, ”he explained. Those who do not have an elementary school certificate can get one through Encceja. “What matters is the student achieving the necessary score level to show that he has mastered content related to basic education.” During the course, students will have direct access to classes, with no barrier to entry. To do so, just access the website to find out the step-by-step and enter Google Classroom – Google Classroom, a platform where classes are already available. Each class has a unique code, which identifies the level of education – elementary school-final years or high school. No prior registration, proof or approval is required, as well as no certificate. “It is a proposal for something that is absolutely accessible, democratic, free.” Free choice To form some kind of community and for teachers to have the opportunity to get to know the students better to help them with their difficulties, students will be able to fill out, “by free choice”, a form with information about age, region where they live and the level of schooling. “It helps responsible teachers prepare lessons more conveniently.” Alegria pointed out that this is not mandatory nor does it prevent the person from attending classes and having access to the materials. Students who obtain the Encceja high school certificate will be able to take the National High School Examination (Enem), by the Ministry of Education. Classes at Seja will last until August 25th, bringing together intensive activities, monitoring by teachers, various materials, such as videos, for example, a space to ask questions, exercises. Weekly, students have one-hour meetings, live, with teachers. The course does not work with disciplines, but with areas of knowledge, including mathematics and its technologies, natural sciences, languages. In the last area, for example, there are Portuguese and English languages, arts, physical education. “It is important to work on content that has to do with the body and the person exercising during the study period. This is all part of a moment of preparation.” Encceja Registration in Encceja is the responsibility of each student. The completion certificate is issued by the Ministry of Education, the state departments of Education and the federal institutes that have an agreement with the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep). The Encceja test is open to young people and adults residing in Brazil and abroad, including prisoners who did not have the opportunity to complete their studies at the appropriate age. For certification in elementary school, you must be at least 15 years old on the date of the exam. The high school certification requires a minimum age of 18 years old on the day of application of the test. This Thursday (15th), at 9 am, at Palácio Rio 450, in Oswaldo Cruz, in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro, the Special Secretariat for the Carioca Youth will hold a ceremony to launch the program It’s My Time, partnership between the City of Rio and Descomplica, an educational institution recognized nationally for developing and teaching preparatory courses. The program will offer 20 thousand cariocas, already registered, free access to an online platform to take the Encceja test, at no cost to the municipality. According to data from the latest Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous PNAD), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), almost 70 million Brazilians over 25 years of age have not completed basic education, which includes elementary and average. The program offers students a journey of educational development focused on employability and preparation for the Encceja 2023. Rio’s Youth Secretary, Salvino Oliveira, stated that the partnership is important to tackle a serious social problem. “I know Descomplica’s service well because I was their student myself. But the vast majority of young people do not have access. Today, across the country, we live in a dramatic educational reality, with 75% of young people between the ages of 18 and 24 who are behind schedule, or worse, have dropped out of school. This affects the entire society, which has an ever-increasing population of uneducated citizens, who cannot access better working conditions and income and, consequently, quality of life. It is a perverse cycle that impacts the entire socioeconomic chain and only increases poverty in our country,” said the secretary. Impacts According to the 2019 Higher Education Map, the level of education influences average wage income. A young person who has completed high school earns up to 13% more than another who has only finished elementary school. The General Register of Employed and Unemployed People (Caged), of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, showed that, in 2022, 77.52% of open positions required the candidate to have completed basic education or graduation. The founder of the Descomplica organization, Marco Fisbhen, cited a study by the Insper Institute of Teaching and Research, according to which school dropout impacts the country’s economy. Failure to complete secondary education for 69 million people generates a financial loss for the government of around BRL 220 billion per year, or the equivalent of up to 3.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP, which includes goods and services produced in the country). Enrolled students will have access to Descomplica’s digital platform, with live and recorded classes, exercises and simulations, up to two non-cumulative compositions per month, in addition to, optionally, being able to participate in a community of students. It will be possible to hold complementary classes in virtual format.
