President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) landed this Tuesday (20) in Rome, Italy. Lula’s first commitment, in the city, will be with the Italian sociologist Domenico de Masi. Author of the book Creative Leisure, de Masi became famous for the concept according to which leisure is a factor that stimulates personal creativity. This Wednesday (21), the president has a meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican. They are expected to discuss issues such as the war in Ukraine, climate change and the fight against hunger. Lula should also invite the pontiff to participate in the Círio de Nazaré, in Belém (PA), one of the largest Catholic demonstrations in the world. Also this Wednesday, Lula will have bilateral meetings with the president of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, and with the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. The president is also going to Paria where he will participate, on Thursday (22), in the Summit on the New Global Financing Compact. The event will open with speeches by French President Emmanuel Macron and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. Lula’s statement, as well as that of other foreign leaders, will take place at the end of the meeting, on the morning of Friday (23). Still in the French capital, Lula will give the closing speech of the Power Our Planet event, at the invitation of the band Coldplay, on Thursday night (22). The event will be held at Campo de Marte, in front of the Eiffel Tower, and will also be attended by leaders from East Timor, Barbados, Ghana and Kenya, as well as the mayor of Paris, Ane Hidalgo. Before returning to Brazil, Lula will have lunch with Macron, after the end of the summit, at the Élysée Palace, seat of the host government.
