The Coordination of Sexual Diversity (CDS) and the Civil House, bodies of the Carioca City Hall, promote this weekend, in partnership with the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses (Sebrae), the first edition of the Mercado Mundo LGBTQIA+. The event is free and will take place this Saturday (24) and Sunday (25), from 10 am to 5 pm, on the Olympic Boulevard. There will be 21 tents with exhibitors representing each letter of the acronym on sexual orientation and gender identity. According to the coordinator of Sexual Diversity, Carlos Tufvesson, the objective is to introduce tourists and the city’s population to the entrepreneurship practiced by the LGBTQIA+ population. Tufvesson told Agência Brasil that the market, located in Praça Mauá, seeks to form a clientele for these small entrepreneurs, who probably could not find jobs in the formal job market. “There, they opened their companies. They had an entry through entrepreneurship. But others, not. Others fall into prostitution, forced, to be able to pay their bills. This is unacceptable in a country like ours”, he said. accessories to decorative items, including children’s and adult clothing, thrift store and silk items, costume jewellery, scented candles, black fashion, handicrafts, books and food. a tourist tour. The expectations of exhibitors are high, since the Mercado Mundo LGBTQIA+ promotes its first edition in June, when the LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is celebrated. DJs make the soundtrack for the tour. The coordination explains that investment in entrepreneurship is one of the main focuses in the employability policy. In January of this year, due to the Trans Visibility Day (29), the 1st Trans World Market was held. For Carlos Tufvesson, the positive result of the debut served as an incentive for this edition to of the market were more comprehensive. Tufvesson said he hopes that the Mercado Mundo LGBTQIA+ can enter the periodic calendar of the city, without it being necessary to coincide exclusively with key dates for this population. If it were up to him, an edition would be made every two months. “Giving space to these micro-enterprises is contributing to their growth and increasing job possibilities,” he said.
