The special edition of Justiça Itinerante aimed at the LGBTQIA+ public carried out 59 civil requalifications in Cabo Frio (RJ). These people received the new records with the chosen name and gender. The balance sheet was released by the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PJERJ). This was the 8th edition of the Civil Requalification event aimed at legal assistance for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, queer, intersex, asexual and others and took place in the municipality’s Forum. The calls took place last Friday (30). The people assisted were identified by the Cabo Frio Municipal Social Assistance Secretariat. And, after identifying their demands, they were forwarded to the Public Defender’s Office, which forwarded the requests to the Itinerant Justice. According to the PJERJ, since May 2018, when specific assistance to the LGBTQIA+ public began at the Maré/Fiocruz Itinerant Justice post, 3,228 sexual status reassignment actions have been distributed. Itinerant Justice is a program that takes judges and members of the Public Ministry and Public Defender’s Office to meet citizens who are in places of social vulnerability and difficult access to public services.
