With the enactment of Law No. 14,626 by Vice President Geraldo Alckimin, the groups entitled to priority care in Brazil were expanded, including people with autism spectrum disorder, people with reduced mobility and blood donors. With the new norm, these groups will be served first in airports, banks, cinemas, hospitals and other services provided to the public. The sanction of the law was published this Thursday (20) in the Official Gazette. Approved in June of this year by the National Congress, the text states that “priority service may be carried out by discriminating the stations, boxes, counters, lines or specific attendants for this purpose”. If the service does not have its own booths for people entitled to priority, the law requires that these groups be attended “immediately after the completion of the service in progress, before any other people”. Public transport services will reserve seats, duly identified, for people with disabilities, people with autism spectrum disorder, elderly people, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, people with infants and people with reduced mobility”, determines Article 3 of the legislation.
