The government published in this Friday’s (21st) edition of the Official Gazette the decree revoking the National Program for Civic-Military Schools. The text provides that the transition plan for the closure of activities will be established by the Ministry of Education (MEC) within 30 days. Planning will be discussed with states and municipalities. Last week, the ministry sent a letter to the Education secretaries informing that the program would end, but that there would be a careful transition of activities so as not to compromise the daily life of schools. The National Program of Civic-Military Schools was the main flag of the Jair Bolsonaro government for education. Executed in partnership between the MEC and the Ministry of Defense, through it, military personnel act in school and educational management. The program had the participation of military personnel from the Armed Forces, police and military firefighters. Now, with the closure, each education system will have to define specific strategies to reintegrate educational units into regular networks.
