Turma da Mônica will help children and teenagers to understand important aspects of the rating of films, series and other works. Keeping an Eye on the Indicative Rating is a 20-page comic book launched by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security in partnership with the Maurício de Sousa Institute. The goal of the folder is to encourage children and teenagers to learn while having fun and the Turma da Mônica characters are the support strategy for the inclusion of the Rating Policy theme in this target audience. The project was released in physical and digital formats. The comic tells the story of Cascão, who watched a horror movie without knowing the rating and was terrified. The children talk about the theme and Mônica’s father, Seu Sousa, arrives to explain how the indicative classification of works works, from free to 18 years old. Information The indicative rating is information that the federal government provides to families about the age group for which audiovisual works are not recommended. Products for television, film and video, electronic games, applications and role-playing games (RPG) are classified. According to the Ministry of Justice, this classification does not replace parental care – it is fundamentally a tool that can be used by them. The folder’s recommendation is that parents and guardians watch and talk to their children about the content and topics covered in the media.
