The President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Minister Rosa Weber, visited two prisons in the Federal District today (6). The minister was accompanied by her court colleague, Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The reason for the visit has not yet been confirmed by the advisory of the Supreme Court. Rosa Weber and Moraes visited the Colmeia Women’s Penitentiary and the Papuda men’s prison, where they are being held under investigation for participating in the anti-democratic acts of January 8. Two weeks ago, a group of parliamentarians met with the president of the STF and the minister to ask for the release of the prisoners who had not participated in the depredation of the headquarters of the court, the Congress and the Palácio do Planalto. So far, of the 1,400 people arrested after the attacks, around 800 are still being held. Accused of financing the acts, 54 individuals, three companies, an association and a union have already had assets blocked at the request of the Attorney General’s Office (AGU). The body charges BRL 100 million in collective moral damages, in addition to BRL 20 million in material damages for the losses.
