The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) released a report with the balance of the 60 days of the Yanomami operation in Roraima, which involved the use of aircraft to support actions in the region, such as transporting indigenous people, distributing food and medical assistance. According to the document, released on Monday (3), so far 201 indigenous people have been transported, 350,000 kilos of food have been distributed and 1,903 people have been assisted at the field hospital set up in the Yanomami region. The operation delivered 20,000 basic food baskets throughout the indigenous territory, serving more than 40 villages. Regarding medical consultations, the report points to a reduction in health actions, culminating, in the last week, with an average of two daily consultations. Emergency repair As for transport activities, the report highlights the emergency repair of the runway at the Surucucu airfield, under the responsibility of the National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples (Funai). The refurbishment made it possible, since the first days of March, for the C-105 Amazonas aircraft to take off and land, with capacity for up to 64 passengers or five tons of cargo, in addition to the C-98 Caravan, another aircraft used in the mission. The document also says that more than eight thousand loads (counted from March 7) and 540 people were transported in military vehicles. Carried out by the FAB in conjunction with Navy and Army personnel, the operation involves more than 580 Armed Forces personnel in reinforcing actions to deal with the Public Health Emergency of National Importance and the fight against illegal mining in the Yanomami Territory, in Roraima.
