Moraes authorizes visits by parliamentarians to prisoners in coup acts

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized today (4) the visit of federal deputy Bia Kicis (PL-DF) and senator Izalci Lucas (PSDB-DF) to those arrested in the coup acts of January 8 . The parliamentarians will be able to visit the Papuda prison and the Colmeia Women’s Penitentiary, both in the Federal District, on April 10, to verify the situation of the detainees. In the same decision, Moraes did not authorize the entry of parliamentary advisors, security guards, journalists and family members of those in custody. According to a survey by the minister’s office, of the 1,400 prisoners on the day of the attacks, 294 – 86 women and 208 men – remain prisoners in the penitentiary system of the Federal District. The others were released because, according to the minister, they no longer represented a risk to society and investigations.
