Brazilian beach volleyball had a gold and silver weekend in Itapema (SC), in the first of three stages of the modality’s world circuit in national territory. The duo André Stein and George, newly Brazilian champions, secured this Sunday (9) the top of the podium by defeating the French Youssef Krou and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat in the final, by 2 sets to 0 (21/16 and 21/13). In the women’s dispute, Bárbara Seixas and Carol Solberg won silver, after being beaten by the Chinese Xue/Xia, by 2 sets to 0 (21/18 and 21/17). “Playing in Itapema is really special for us. We already enter the court more confident, happier, calling the crowd. That makes the difference for us. In the end, things work out better. It’s incredible to play here all the time, it’s very special and there’s nothing more to say, just to say thank you”, celebrated George, after winning, in a statement to the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV).
