An electronic tool launched by the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) allows anyone to calculate, in a “quick, safe and easy” way, the fine provided for in the Anti-Corruption Law (LAC), applied to “legal entities considered responsible for harmful acts against public administration”. According to the CGU, the tool should arouse special interest from companies that respond to administrative proceedings, as well as law firms that have these companies as clients. The calculator should also arouse the interest of teachers and students during studies on the calculation of fines or who wish to carry out simulations both for research and for academic work. Launched at the beginning of the week, the tool was created with the aim of automating processes, informed the CGU. “The agency itself started to use the tool to calculate the fines to be applied to legal entities that may be held responsible, by the agency, for the practice of harmful acts”. Among the advantages listed by the CGU are that the tool can be accessed from anywhere via the internet; may incorporate legislative updates; update accumulated IPCA values; and to access rules that are applicable from early judgment. “The fine calculated by the tool is that provided for in Article 6 of the LAC, in the amount of 0.1% to 20% of gross revenue for the last fiscal year prior to the initiation of the administrative process”, details the CGU when informing that, “soon ”, the calculator will have “intelligence to calculate the fine in the case of leniency agreements”.
