Lula arrives in London for the coronation of King Charles III

Lula landed in the English capital this Saturday (5) and in the afternoon he will meet with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak. There are no plans to sign agreements. According to the Itamaraty, the bilateral meeting is an opportunity to reinforce the relationship between the countries that maintain a series of partnerships and multilateral mechanisms in several sectors, such as energy transition, health, defense and environmental preservation. Still today, Lula will attend a reception at Buckingham Palace. The event is hosted by the king and will bring together dozens of heads of state invited to the coronation. Coronation At the age of 74, Charles became king on September 8 last year, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who stayed in power for 70 years, the longest reign on the British throne. No other heir to the British throne has waited so long to be crowned. In March, Lula and Charles spoke by telephone and dealt mainly with environmental issues, which has been a historical agenda of the monarch’s activities. As prince, Charles visited Brazil on four occasions, in 1978, 1991, 2002 and 2009. In all of them, he went to the Amazon region.
