This Tuesday (6th), federal police officers are serving four arrest warrants against those accused of counterfeiting money and selling counterfeit banknotes. Operation Carcará, by the Federal Police (PF), also carries out eight search and seizure warrants in Greater Rio. At the site, paper, printers, inks, printing equipment, credit card machines and notes ready to go into circulation were found. According to the PF, the group used social networks to sell the counterfeit bills, which were mailed to buyers. Last year, more than 1,000 packages with a total of 200 kilograms of counterfeit banknotes were sent from the region where the criminal organization operates. Those investigated will answer for the crimes of criminal organization, counterfeit currency and counterfeit currency by equivalence, whose sum penalties can reach more than 25 years in prison.
