The kick off of the ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup will take place at 4 am (Brasília time) this Thursday (20), in New Zealand, which hosts the event together with Australia. The New Zealand team faces the Norwegian team, in Group A, in the opening game of the World Cup, the first to bring together 32 teams – in the last edition in France there were 24 countries. The opening match of the World Cup will be at the Eden Park stadium, in the city of Auckland. All World Cup matches can be watched live, free of charge, on the Fifa+ platform. The Brazilian team, which is seeking an unprecedented title, will make its debut in the first phase next Monday (24th), at 8am, against Panama, in Group F, which also includes France and Jamaica. All of the Brazilian women’s matches will take place in Australia. The team led by coach Pia Sundhage is headquartered in the city of Brisbane. The first match against Panama will be in Adelaide, at the Hindmarsh stadium. General secretary Fatma Samoura is also confident in the increase in audience around the planet. “The eyes of the world will be here. We hope to reach a quarter of the world’s population, two billion people, who will watch at least one match,” she said. The top two in each group qualify for the round of 16. The title decision will take place on August 20 (a Sunday), at 7 am, at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, with capacity for more than 80,000 fans.
