The Minister of Women, Cida Gonçalves, and the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima announced, this Friday (14), the signing of an agreement between the federal and state governments to allocate financial resources to the construction of the first Brazilian Women’s House in Manaus . By means of a bench amendment, the federal government had set aside, in 2020, the amount of R$ 10 million for the government of Amazonas to install the first Casa da Mulher in Manaus, but the state’s counterpart was missing, announced only today. Under the agreement concluded this Friday, the government of Amazonas will disburse R$ 7.5 million for the construction of the women’s protection unit. With the announcement of state resources, the work project met the requirements of Caixa Econômica Federal for the release of federal resources. “With the signing of the agreement, there will be the construction of bureaucratic processes with Caixa Econômica Federal, which manages this money, and understanding between technicians from the state government and the Ministry of Women”, said Wilson Lima, when commenting on the investment of the state and the release of federal resources so that the bid for the work is carried out in the second half of this year. Minister Cida Gonçalves reinforced the purpose of the federal government and said that the objective is to save all women and children in the country. “We will work tirelessly for this. We will release resources for those who want to work. It doesn’t matter what party, it doesn’t matter where you come from. Anyone who wants to save a woman will have the support of this ministry and the Lula government,” she said. Living without Violence São Paulo is one of the capitals that have a unit of the Brazilian Women’s House – Government of São Paulo/Disclosure The Brazilian Women’s House is one of the main axes of the Women Living Without Violence program, relaunched in March by Minister Cida Gonçalves . The space aims to expand and integrate public agencies focused on humanized care for women victims of violence. In the same physical structure, specialized services are offered for the most diverse types of violence against women: reception and screening; psychosocial support; police station; Court and rods; Public Prosecutor’s Office, Public Defender’s Office; health services; promotion of economic autonomy; care for children (toy library) who are with victimized mothers; transit accommodation and transport hub to take to other public services when needed. Currently, Brazil has seven units of the Casa da Mulher Brasileira in operation: one in Ceilândia, in the Federal District; one in Campo Grande; one in Curitiba; one in Fortaleza; one in São Paulo; one in Boa Vista and one in São Luís. Goal The federal government intends to install 40 units of the Casa da Mulher Brasileira, across the country, by 2026, with at least one unit in each of the capitals. According to minister Cida Gonçalves, the government also intends to internalize the policy of protecting women. “We are working hard so that all government actions are internalized, according to the territory and needs. Regardless of whether it is a large Brazilian Women’s House, or a smaller one, women will be assisted,” said the minister.
