Unanimously, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) decided this Thursday (27) to validate the payment of the national wage floor to community health agents and agents to combat endemic diseases. Currently, the value is R$ R$ 2,424. The payment of agents’ salaries was defined based on Federal Law 12,994 of 2014, a norm that established the national minimum for the category, which must be followed throughout the country. Most ministers followed the vote given by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur, For the minister, the floor is provided for in the Constitution and payment is the responsibility of the federal government. In this way, there is no invasion of competence in the autonomy of the states. According to the National Federation of Community Health Agents (Fenasce), the country has around 291,000 health agents and 100,000 professionals to combat endemic diseases. The constitutionality of the national floor was defined in a case involving the city of Salvador, which contested a decision of the Federal Court determining the salary payment of municipal agents based on federal law and defined the scope of the expression of the salary floor.
