Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined the continuity of the open investigation to investigate the supposed involvement of the president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the MST, deputy Lieutenant-Colonel Zucco (Republicanos-RS), with undemocratic acts. Moraes’ decision was signed on the 17th of this month and came to light today (23) on the commission’s first working day. The case began to be investigated in Rio Grande do Sul and investigates Zucco’s alleged incentive to anti-democratic acts to contest the result of the 2022 elections. The investigation was initiated from posts on social networks in November last year. In February of this year, after the deputy took over the chair in the Chamber of Deputies, the Federal Court sent the case to the Supreme Court due to the privileged forum. In the decision, Moraes understood that the case may be connected with investigations into coup acts being processed by the Supreme Court and determined that the Federal Police proceed with the investigation. Defense On Saturday (20), through social networks, the deputy said he was surprised by the resumption of the investigation and stated that the measure is related to his work at the CPI. “There is nothing in legal terms that can worry me. I believe it is a political response against the work that we are going to start at the head of the CPI”, he said. In a new position after the beginning of the CPI, Zucco declared that he has no involvement with acts contrary to democracy and that the police will verify that there was no crime.
