Minister Cármen Lúcia, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized this Monday (26) the testimonies of Army Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former assistant to Jair Bolsonaro, and Army Colonel Jean Lawand to the Commission. Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPMI) of the Coup Acts of the National Congress. In the decision, despite obliging them to attend the commission, the minister understood that they have the right to remain silent in the face of questions that may incriminate them and to be assisted by their lawyers. Lawand’s testimony is scheduled for tomorrow (27), at 9am. Mauro Cid’s hearing was approved by the committee, but the date has not yet been set. According to investigations by the Federal Police, messages captured with judicial authorization after the seizure of Cid’s cell phone show that Bolsonaro’s former assistant gathered documents to provide legal support for the execution of a coup d’état. The documents also show a conversation between Mauro Cid and Jean Lawand, on December 1st of last year, in the context of an alleged defense of the coup. “Cidão, for the love of God, do something. Convince him to do it. He can’t back down now. He has nothing to lose. He will be arrested. The president [Bolsonaro] will be arrested, and worse, in Papuda “, wrote Lawand. Then, Cid replied: ” But, the PR cannot give an order if he does not trust the ACE [Alto Comando do Exército]”. Cid has been arrested since May 3 by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes on charges of defrauding Bolsonaro’s vaccination card and that of his family members.
